This mansion of over 44,000 square feet, on a very private 20 acres, is on a scale beyond words, in a unique class – due to its size, style, but particularly due to its construction. This giant is built of steel beams and concrete throughout. The Planning started in 1993, and the construction of steel and concrete started in 1997; the project is ongoing. Created on a human scale rarely seen in Canada, welcoming and liveable, this mansion underlines the equation “Space = Luxury” which is used in European Chateaux. This feat was achieved by separating the central reception and living area portion of the mansion from the area for family members, guests and where also are located the lab, technical hobby room, painting studio and garages. These two structures are connected by an open conservatory. Similarly the complex that includes the pool, Jacuzzi, cabana, steam rooms, sauna, outdoor entertainment patio and BBQ area, located west of the mansion, is connected through a tunnel.
Opens to a grand foyer with a 45-foot ceiling, and a majestic split staircase leading to the master bedroom and guest suite. An elevator located between the dining room and kitchen area services the master bedroom and guest suite. There are 8 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms (not all finished).
THE MASTER AND GUEST SUITES
Both can be accessed via the grand staircase, by a stairwell beside the kitchen or by elevator. Each suite is entered through large double doors. Both suites are extremely spacious and carpeted; there is a walk-in closet running the full width of the master bedroom with access on each side of the bed. The bathrooms are very large, with Jacuzzi tub and sink. The master bedroom water-closet is equipped with bidet, urinoir, toilet and sink; the second water-closet is similar, but without urinoir. The showers are spacious and steam-equipped; the floor is of rose marble in the master bedroom, the other is marble of jade colour. Each bedroom has a balcony with access through sliding glass doors.
The area has two fully equipped kitchens, both with professional equipment. One is full standard European kitchen, the second is a fully equipped restaurant-style Asian kitchen. These have been designed to easily accommodate very large indoor receptions, formal dinners or outdoor gatherings. The list of equipment includes two Mielle ovens, two Mielle dishwashers (one regular and one for crystal and china), a Wells commercial griddle, a six-burner gas stove-top, two bun warmers, one Chester Eloma oven with steam and Convection systems.
The separate Asian kitchen has one commercial gas unit with commercial extractor hood and wok, two deep fryers, one double large gas burner for soup stock, a steamer, and one Alto Shaam commercial oven for specially regulated extra slow cooking. The kitchen has its own very special hot water tank for volume, located below the kitchen for instant hot water.
The heating system is designed with two independent systems.
